29th November : MCK and Dive Club gear auction

MCK and Dive club gear auction will be held on the last Tuesday of November at 9pm clubhouse. Members will be selling their old, and new stuff at bargain prices. This may be your chance to purchase hard to get (in Kenya) gear!! Cash only, at the fall of the hammer. 
So far we have: Hiking Boots, climbing shoes, cold weather clothes, ropes, camp stoves, waterproof matches, dive tanks, regulators, masks & more….
Those who have stuff to sell, kindly let me know ASAP to help in planning, meets@mck.or.ke

 

18th – 20th November : Kipipiri Camping and Hiking

Plan is to meet at ABC place on Friday afternoon and car pool. It’s a 2.5 hours drive to the campsite. The road is ok and a 4wd is not necessary unless it rains heavily. Camp site is near the Muthubio gate of Aberdares National Park. 
We will leave early on Saturday morning for the hike. The hike is said to be gradual but long.(therefore we need to be there on Friday) 
Camp at the same site on Friday and Saturday. 
You must be sufficient with self-camping. Will let you know later for the availability of water and other facilities. There will be a charge for camp site and a guide(s). 
Let Hiroko and/or Miano know if you would like to come by 15th Nov. via e-mail.  If need a ride, indicate so.

Central Spain in Summer and Winter

Sierra de Gredos is an easily accessible regional park about 2 hours to the East of Madrid and not far from the walled city of Avila. The region boasts fine alpine lakes and rugged peaks. Great hiking, several climbing areas with routes of all grades, ice climbing and mountain skiing are all available in season. A variety of refuges from simple shelters to huts with meals is available. Good guides are available for training and leading trips year round.

The presentation will describe a series of trips in both summer and winter to visit two of the principal valleys, El Circo de Gredos and La Garganta de Bohoyo, and peaks such as Almanzor (2,592 m) and La Galana in El Circo.
