Michelle is organising a trip to Mt. Kenya through Chogoria. The plan is to drive to the park gates and hike as far as vivienne falls on day 1; day 2 hike to mintos tarn and camp; day 3 hike to austria hut and camp; day 4 reach lenana and try to make the walk back in 1 day.

We will depart Nairobi from Sarit centre (for those who want to car pool) at 10am. The trip to Namanga border will take about 4 ½ to 5hours, going via Kiserian, then old Pipe line road (just south of Ngong Hills). Just after the border we will be met by Ally, our Tanzanian guide who will take us to the gate of Longido Camp (about 300meters from the border). We pitch camp for the night (there are rooms and restaurant facilities) and for those that want to camp, please make sure you bring your own tents, food, etc.
Sunday morning we break camp and start the hike to the summit at 9am. The hike according to the guide takes 8-9hours.

The MCK is seeking experienced rock-climbers to assist with the various training sessions including the upcoming beginner’s climb on Sunday September 26th. Members with qualifications in rock-climbing instruction would be greatly appreciated and may be compensated for their services if approved by the committee.
