We had a successful reconnaissance meet in the Aberdares a couple of weeks ago, the objective of which was to find a trail through the forest between Mutubio and River Mwangi. A GPS track of fairly decent trails from Shamata to Mutubio is now available. The plan is to do the same for the Southern section, from Mutubio to Mt. Kinangop.

Although this is a two day meet, it will be tough. Previous hiking in the Aberdares or in cold, wet, muddy conditions is highly recommended. Rain gear, boots and a warm sleeping bag are required for this meet.

Costs

Rangers – 3000/day/ranger to be split among all who come
Park entry fees – Citizens – 300, Residents – 1000, Non-residents $50
Camping fees – Citizens – 150, Residents –  300, Non-residents $15
Fuel – Mutubio is 130Km from Nairobi.

The road from Murungaru to Mutubio is an all weather murram road. Please let me know if you have spaces or if you need a lift.
